I have just tried to install Link V2 for Sage Line 50 and when the setup program tries to install the DAO link I get an error message saying that another program is using DAO. I have closed all background applications and rebooted the PC - to no avail I still get the same error message and cannot finish the installation. Any ideas please?

Actinic always installs DAO by default, but it may be that it is already installed OK on your PC. Skip that part of the installation and see if Link still runs OK.

Thanks Chris, it seems to work, but I'm not sure what to be looking out for in case it doesn't!!. I still need to organise the SDO information from Sage as well

You need to contact Sage in order to receive an SDO registration and activation key. The number to call is in the Starter Guide.

Chris,

Sage have issued me an SDO number today and I've installed that OK. I have started to create the profile and have hit the 'connect to Sage' button which worked fine. I can't use Sage to control my stock because I have multiple instances of the same part number within my actinic database and so will only be using the link to extract invoices and import them into Sage. So going to the retrieving and processing orders section (Chap 3), in the carriage tab the Nominal code just shows one code going on for 50 times, and if I move into the transactions tab the Default customer ref only shows my very first customer again about 30 times.

I am running Actinic and Sage on my server, and have installed the link on there as well. On my laptop which I experiment on within the control panel - remove software I can see a program called DAO 3.5. When I look on my server there is no DAO program installed.

Any ideas please?

John

I have heard of something like this happening before. I have passed it onto the Development team for further input.

What operating system you are using?

Thanks Chris, I'm running Win 2K Server on my server (strangely enough) and win2k on the workstations. I don't mind moving it off the server if I have to

There is a known problem with v8 of Sage with it not being able to link properly to other systems (including Actinic Link). This causes symptoms exactly like you describe.

The fix for this is below.

1. search for on your computer SDOENG80.DLL
2. rename this file to KEEPSDOENG80.DLL
3. Copy the file SdoEng80.dll (in zip file I have emailed to you) into the same
directory as KEEPSDOENG80.DLL
4. Try Actinic link and this should fix the problem
