what's the alternative to ssl

Just to make sure! I can turn off the ssl in business settings, keep my link to worldpay and evrything's secure? And how about the customer/order details that are transfered between my site and worldpay's - are they secure or does this not matter (i'm begginner - go easy!)

Actinic scripts transfer the details across to worldpay, so you don't need to worry about that. Yes they are secure, as Worldpay handles the security.
