I want to put our company details on the bottom of the frontpage in text format i.e


company name , address contact phone number vat number etc.

Just quite small but on the front page

I would edit the template called 'Act_CatalogBody.html' ('Advanced | Template Manager | General Front Page Layout') and just add the html for your company details at the bottom of that template. This will just show them on the front page of the store.
