Client currently has a site running with Business v.5, and uses Actinic Shared SSL. He would like a virtually duplicate site in a foreign language (text translations no problem). He would prefer to use his existing single site licence only (for cost reasons). Although feasible, this may not be practical or elegant! Any comments, suggestions, or cost effective solutions please?

you can duplicate all the sections and have then in the other langauage. but in order to keep the 2 halves separate you will have to hard code navigation, lose the search facility and loose the sitemap, and place the sites in frames to keep their separate identities

And in addition to Jo's comments your reports will be in one language only.

Wow I just tried to mention a freeware, open souce, multi-language, multi-currency solution and the Forum removed it's name. I'd better take my paranoia medicine.

Yep that happened to me aswell....

When I mentioned it to the powers I was told this was a forum for helping people out and not discussing the competition

I looked in the Forums rules before posting and it wasn't specifically prohibited. It would be interesting to see what the excluded terms list is, wouldn't it.

Sometimes the honest answer to "what's the best way to do this" is "not with my product - one of my competitors has exactly what you need".

Anyway the client is already running Actinic so changing systems is probably not what they want.

p.s. Nuff said, I think or "Norman" might be added to the censored list.;)

Thanx all for your comments much appreciated. I showed them to client. Anyway, he has decided on another site license with Catalog V.6 for the second site (Spanish); its money to make money; I hope.

Regards Phil.

If your client is thinking on a multi-language site perhaps Actinic Developer would be a better long term solution
