I have actinic installed on 2 PC's, one at work, one at home.

The work one functions fine. Updates perfectly 100% of the time.

The home one alwayshangs during update. It hangs at different stages of the update process. Sometimes it takes me 10 attempts to update the site, which is very frustrating and time consuming.

Shop PC is on ADSL with BT

Home PC is on ADSL with Plusnet

Have tried the Passive FTP transfers, makes no difference.

Any advice would be very welcome?

Many thanks in advance

Actinic does not work like this. A different securuty key will be on each machine.

Am not sure what you mean.

Is it not OK to use it on 2 different machines??

Our online store receives orders day and night.

In the evening, we download and process the orders that come in ready for the next day. We then export the site and take the copy to work in the morning.

We then import the copy and continue to download orders.

We do the same thing when we leave the shop, export the site, then import at home.

Everything does work in the end, just the home PC hangs at various stages of the UPDATE process.

If there is no workaround for this problem, I shall just have to put up with it.

Thnaks again for any advice

I have a product that automates the Actinic upload, you might find that it might help, when an upload dialog appears, it will push the retry button for you, doing this quickly might reduce the number of timeouts, if it does fail, it will retry after a minute for a configurable number of times.

It might not make any difference at all but would be worth a try, you can use it for free for 30 days, see more details at :

Don't think that will help as you do not get the chance to press retry.

Program hangs (when you go into windows task manager, it say 'not responding)

That sounds as if the Actinic cannot get hold of the internet connection. If it doesn't think that their is one it will try to connect which can cause a long delay.

You are right though the Mole will not help with that error. Sorry.
