Payment by cheque

What is the best way of enabling payment by cheque - I would need the customer to send a cheque to us in advance and have it cleared before checkout? i.e. not cheque on delivery.

in payment options you can change the description - we use invoice and payment with delivery but rename it for customers on the site to be:

Place order & mail a check (US$ funds) into us

we do this as we have a lot of business customers without business credit cards

You can use any of the payment methods that work around cheques but simply change the web site description
eg. use payment on delivery but change the web site description for this method to read "Pay by cheque (allow 10 days eaxtra days for delivery)".
You can change the description in View | Business Settings | Payment & Security.
Personally, I'd try to discourage any payments by cheque as it an unnecessary hassle these days, or you could do as we do and insist that payments by cheque are by postal order or bankers draft only.
