why are the buttons in my basket looking like this?

Check your Act_OrderDetail template and see if it references the same Checkout images as used within the Navigation list.

cnfm1 is the normal file name for the checkout, but yours looks like it is referencing the normal checkout button shown on all of the product/section pages.
