On chandleryworld.co.uk (http://www.chandleryworld.co.uk) Have set up free shipping on orders over £75.00 and all works well, except that Gift Vouchers, starting at £5, have been added as products.
Just realised that the GV's under £75 will trip a delivery charge of £7.95.

Don't want to use weights as the shipping basis [not yet anyway] - any ideas how to get around this?

Many thanks for any suggestions.
Sharon

Additional thoughts ...

on electronic delivery of Gift Vouchers: digital downloads - v- coupons etc.
Any thoughts on the best way to allow on-line redemption of gift vouchers.
Coupon codes could be used more than once, etc.

Lurched into putting them on the site without really thinking it through.
Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.

Sharon

Hi Sharon

Just realised that the GV's under £75 will trip a delivery charge of £7.95.
I'm afraid if you want choice dependant shipping, then you would need to use weights for Shipping.

With regards to Gift vouchers, our partners has written a plugin to use vouchers on site. Here is the link: http://www.internetprogramming.co.uk/index.html.
Coupon codes and Gift vouchers are different, a coupon code is a way of activating a discount, Gift Vouchers is another way to pay for a product.

Kind Regards

You could set the coupon code to provide a fixed amount off as the reward type thereby using it as a gift voucher - you could set a printable digital download as a gift voucher with a coupon code for the amount to be redeemed

Hi there

Yes this can be done, however a coupon code can be used many times, on different orders. A gift voucher, if you are using it for payment, can be used only once. This was the reason why i had written what you quoted :)

Thats a fair point - you could set restriction to a specific customer group and add the recipient to a customer group - but that means providing login details etc.

You could also add a clause in the digital voucher download that orders will be checked off-line against voucher validity before the order is processed - allowing you to moderate the number of uses and then remove the coupon code.

Many thanks Nadeem and Jont for your suggestions!

With regards to Gift vouchers, our partners has written a plugin to use vouchers on site. Here is the link: http://www.internetprogramming.co.uk/index.html. This is a loyalty scheme that incorporates gift vouchers. Don't want a loyalty scheme. Just want the facility to sell and redeem gift vouchers.

You could also add a clause in the digital voucher download that orders will be checked off-line against voucher validity before the order is processed - allowing you to moderate the number of uses and then remove the coupon code Umm Yes! - good workable solution, only potential problem is the administration at busy times e.g. christmas - but will give it a shot. Many thanks Jont.

Again, many thanks to you both.

Hi Sharon

You can exclude digital downloads from tripping a delivery charge, so why not gift vouchers
Because a coupon code is only for applying a discount to your order. Currently we don't do gift vouchers in the software. Also currently the product has not got the ability to be excluded from shipping, i will add this onto the wishlist :)
