I am still in the initial stages of using Actinic.

Does anyone know what the maximum length is for image titles when using different browsers, like Firefox or Netscape?

I have a few thousand images which I have to alter (all of mine have spaces in the title) and I just want to make sure I don't end up with some image names that are too long.

http://www.controlledvocabulary.com/imagedatabases/filename_limits.html

It seems to be about 255 characters on windowsXP and current mac OS's.

If you name all your images the same as the product ref you will then be able to run a few of the extra scripts.

images in search results, images in checkout for example

Thanks very much for your replies - it's a verrry steep learning curve.

I couldn't use the product ref no as I use the images in other programs and woul also (eventually) like to have more than one site.

Isn't it better from a search engine point of view if the images have accurate names?

Yes, image names are one of the many things search engines use.
