If anyone would like to help/answer give an opinion on one or some of these questions i would be greatful. As you can tell I am very new to this and trying to evaluate Actinic Business prior to deciding how, who, etc to build a shop.
1) For an online shop with over 500 - 1000 items which is the better accountancy package quick books or sage?
2) The difference between having a template designed and a company designing a shop? My quotes vary considerably
Thank you for your help, I need it

Hi Donna,
For the last 3 years I have used Quickbooks and am very satisfied with it. I find the package very forgiving (I do make mistakes!) and it allows me to very easiliy back out of any corner I get into. The user interface is simple and you can get reports very quickly about any aspect of your business. So yes, QB works and I would recommend it. However, I have no experience of Sage and can't offer the comparison you seek.
As to your question about template or site design. Site design is much more than just altering a page or two with a template. It's about integrating the way you work with your site i.e. payments, shipping, T&C's, product listings, support, colour and identity themes, jumping straight to products, etc. I would sum it up as: templates are a quick fix to get around immediate issues, site design gives you consistent look & feel across the whole site.
Hope this helps.
