Check cart buttons not working

When I add to cart, then go to amend it (via check cart), none of the buttons work., ie the update, return to catalog, checkout. I am running on developer 6.1.2. I am having trouble with the host of this site (fasthosts) with cgi timeouts today amongst other things.

hi, Not only do the buttons in my check cart not work (update,checkout...) neither does the search button on the extended search. The simple search button works fine. Have I managed to switch something off?
