Hey guys, i have been trying for the past 2 days to upload my products onto our server. No matter what I tried, i still end up with the same error about Opertaion Timed Out.

"Unable to connect to the HTTP server "www.hand-embroidery.co.uk". The operation timed out"

I have been told by Actinic Technical Support that this has something to do with our firewall or router. We have a Belkin firewall and I have disabled the firewall in order to upload the store and there is still no joy.

I later assumed that it may have something to do with the Applications Gateway settings. However, I need to fill in the following information in order to allow the port to be opened
Trigger Port
Trigger Type (either TCP or UDP)
Public Port
Public Type (either TCP or UDP)

I also assumed that it may have something to do with the Maximum Packet size. However, I don't know how to configure the Maximum Packet Size on the router.

Does anyone have a similar problem or know where I can get some Belkin Router support please?

You can contact Belkin technical support on

00800 2 2355460

There is also online support via their website

http://www.belkin.com/uk/contactus/index_contactus.asp

Hope that helps

Hi,

I'm using a Belkin wireless modem/router and don't have any problems at all. I suspect that the problems may lie elsewhere.

thanks guys,
i have been able to now resolve the problem. it had something to do with converting the software from the test mode, to the standard mode.
however, another problem has reoccurred; after uploading to the site, i am unable to view the shopping cart or check out pages. it just brings an internal server error that reads:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@hand-embroidery.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

has anyone ever encountered this kind of error? please let me know how u sorted it.

:) cheers

Hi there

Please check to see if you cgi script have a permission of 755. This can be done by your hosting company.

Hi,
i've been told by my hosting company that i need to change this within the actinic software itself. is there a way of doing this from within the software?

Hi there

If you have a linux server then yes, you can do this. You need to have an ftp software (you can get a freeware ftp software like Smart FTP (http://www.smartftp.com/)). Once you have got this, simply log into your site via the ftp details provided by your hosting company. Now you should see two folders, /acatalog/ and /cgi-bin/, right click on /acatalog/ folder and select "CHMOD", now for this folder make sure it set to 777 permission. The /cgi-bin/ folder has to be set a permission of 755.
Windows server permission can only be done by the hosting company.

Kind Regards

Just a thought, but are your correct ports opened on the router?

I had a very similar problem, and opening the ports helped a lot!!

Cheers

Just to add on what Neill has written, make sure the following port are opened

1. Port 80: HTTP
2. Port 21: FTP
3. Port 25: SMTP
4. Port 443: HTTPS
