site down crash help please

Hi we are using V6 catalog, our site has crashed.
When i try to upload from actinic to the site hosted at 4sure we get an error.
I upload site in normal way but it hangs on upload at:
sending base files/bb00001.pl
it hhangs for ages on this page and freezes.
I have tried to compact the database and then reupload but still get the error.
I have also gone into network setup and tested the settings, here it also freezes on checking ftp transfer setup.
Al has been working fine for ages.
Our site now shows errors

Try passive ftp if you haven't yet. This often helps frozen ftp.

If this doesn't work it could be your PC firewall. Try disabling this and see if it makes any difference.

Next try checking with 4sure hosting and see if they've made any changes to the server. It could be that a security patch is mistaking actinics repeated connection tries as a hacking attempt.

hi, thanks passive ftp did the job,strange how it was all working fine and then today stopped.
