Cart info box on right does not display totals

The small box that looks like this:

Always looks like this!!

no matter how many items you add this box will not display the totals, the only time that it does is on the 'add to cart confirmation page'.

Please help, it worked the first time i ever uploaded the site with some products in it!?!?!

Yes - there can sometimes be a problem when using a secure cgi-bin and a non-secure cgi-bin. The knowledge base article mentioned above should help you if that is the case.
