Emailing from Actinic

Sorry guys, I've hunted through these forums for days now and still not found anyone who seems to have the same problem.

Basically I can't email from Actinic.

Not only that but when a customer creates a 'quick contact' from site they get an error message

Error returned from SMTP server (4: email client)

Actually, I do get the email. But the customer is always convinced that it didnt' go and then spends lots of emails telling my my site isn't working!

What happens if you test the network settings within actinic? Do you get any error messages.

nope! No error messages.

Test works fine.

Are you using a mail.domain.tld in the SMTP address and assigning your username and password in the prompts?

A solution which works for many is to use the servers local sendmail daimon (Linux), so try placing

localhost

within the smtp server field, and leave the username and password areas blanks and disabled, and then try it to see how that goes.
