Hi everyone!

I had a customer contact me this morning with this email:

"I've been trying to order some pants from your website. However, after the page where you select credit card as a payment option I get a java error. Any help would be appreciated."

I ran two credit card transactions this morning on different systems to test and had no problems.

What should I recommend to this user?

Thanks!

Christy

Just spoke with the customer and he told me he is using Mac OSX.

Help! We don't have a Mac to test with here.

Hi Christy

I'm on the apple mac now, and have successfully ordered one product. If you check the order you should get one from Actinic Tech Support.
The site went pretty fast when going through the checkout stags, loaded the java applet ok and displayed my receipt.

On the Mac i am using Internet Explorer MAC version 5.1
The Mac OSX version is 10.1.3

Please check with your client if they are using the same version, if they are using an older version of internet explorer, then please tell them to upgrade to 5.1 of IE

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Nadeem,

I will pass on this info to the customer. He perhaps is using Jaguar instead of IE. I've sent him a copy of your post.

I appreciate your help, we did get the faux order successfully.

Thanks again!

I just received a reply from the customer...here's what's on his side.

"Christy,

I'm running OS 10.2.6 and Internet Explorer 5.2.2.

Matt"

Any chance it could be 5.2.2?

Hi Christy

Any chance it could be 5.2.2?

No, I'm sorry. I have updated the Internet Explorer to 5.2.2, the lastest one and again ordered a dummy product.

Please check it.

You website works fine with IE 5.2.2 and again the checkout stages are loading up quickly.

Is the client going through a firewall?

Kind Regards

I will ask. What about the OS X version? Since he's running a newer one it might effect it as well?

Thanks!

Reply from customer:

"Christy,

Nope, I'm not behind a firewall. My IP is the University of Minnesota, I connect through their modem pool.

Matt"

Its possible, but i cannot test on 10.2.6. Hopefully someone with OS X 10.2.6 can test out your site.

Your client is getting java error, so it could be possible that they do not have java installed? This could be another possibility.

Apart from this, I'm afraid I am out of idea, as you site is working perfectly on our MACs

Kind Regards

Nadeem,

I will do my best to find an OS X version this customer is using.
Thanks for all your help, am glad to know it works properly on a majority level. :)
