Just started up Actinic to carry on with my project, i changed a URL target on a template file and tried to upload the site using actinics thing.

It then crashes and totally locks up the program on sending one of the html files.

I have tried "undoing" the changes i made to see if for some reason it was that - no joy..

What could be causing the strange upload error.

Have you checked it is not the server or your ISP? Can you connect manually via FTP / HTTP to the server? Installed any new firewalls / antispy / anti-virus packages?

Changing a target URL in a template should not crash Actinic

hmm, yeh, nothing has changed on the server or on my end.

literally the only thing i changed was

"contact.html"
to
"http://nineplus.1337server.co.uk/cgi-bin/mf000000.pl?ACTION=SHOWFORM"

and that was it,

everything that does manage to upload before it crashs is correct, (by that i mean it does upload stuff)

its really wierd.

just had a little play - it doesnt seem to be any perticualr file, if i delete the one that usually crashs (contact.html) it will then crash on events.html.

i have tried doing a standard ftp upload of files and the server is fine.

I dont know whats happening...

Fixed it....

I uploaded the site as usual and left it while i did another job (was away for 10-15 mins)

when i came back it said "operation timed out"

then it takes you through some options to upload through http rather than ftp.

i read and followed through these screens and then it fired up again and started uploading.

Now it works as it did before :s

crazy.

Thanks for your help guys

Its doing it again - this time there are no changes to any files, one second it works, the next it will not upload "di000000.pm" and crash actinic.

I do not know how to get around this, and it is stopping all further work.

Bash

Now its "ss000000.pl" that causes the crash.

WHATS GOING ON!!!!

Nothing has changed from when i uploaded last.

It does not sound as though it is crashing - more like it is timing out. You may need to talk to your hosts about increasing any timing restrictions they have in place on FTP.

Just confirm first that you do have both Use Enhanced FTP and Ignore Passive Transfer Errors ticked in the Network Setup tab.

There have also been some recent issues with Norton Internet Security erronously blocking Actinic uploads. If you're running this, check the error logs.
