Price edit in the .cat file

Is it possible to change the price for a product temporarily by editing the .cat files on the server? Are there any other files that need to be edited ?
I am unable to access the snapshot or the pc with the catalog on for a couple of days but desparately need to change the price on the website.
I did edit the .cat file for the product bit it then threw a general script error at me.

Any ideas? Kind of desperate.

There is no way to do this I'm afraid apart from manually removing the wrong product from the HTML (or maybe replacing the cart button with a message saying 'call us for price info').

You certainly cannot edit the cat file - they are protected to prevent unscrupulous people from doing exactly what you are trying to do.
