Hi

I am hoping someone can please clarify something for me.

As our client is new to ecommerce an initial idea was to setup using a hosting package with SSL and process the order by punching the number into an existing PDQ terminal in the shop. As orders via the web increase the possibilty of using a company like worldpay would be considered.

I am advised by Barclays that it is not possible to do this even though I consider both telephone orders and orders collected via Actinic will be effectively 'Customer not present'. They advise me to use something like EPDQ which will involve costs of £25/month + 10/month chargeback protection + higher percentage per transaction. In addtion to this it seems I have to also pay securehosting another charge to host the payment forms which ups the cost somewhat!

I have read other postings which indicate to me that people are processing through a normal PDQ terminal.

What are the issues ? Is using the PDQ terminal and not going the EPDQ route viable/legal ?

Thanks for any help

Trevor

unfortunately no longer possible to key internet transactions through retail card terminals - ecommerce transactions need to have an ECI flag set otherwise you get letters from the visa association and mastercard associations threatening fines of $5,000 per transaction increasing by $5,000 per transaction for each transaction taken online but not processed via online payment service
