Hi,
I have been trading for a week and I am using Paypal to accept credit card payments. Some people are finding it impossible to submit their details to Paypal. They keep getting an error message - 'your payment session has expired. To complete this transaction, you will need to enter your information again' They do and get the same message.
I spoke to someone at Paypal who couldn't give me a firm answer but said it was most likely to be corrupted cookies on my customer's PCs and gave me instructions on how my customers can clear them. If this is the case it will be a continuing and recuring problem and bad for business.
Is it possible that Actinic Express is creating the problem in some way?
Has anyone else any experience of this problem?
Regards, Paul

Paul,
There are no reported issues of this nature with PayPal. I am however running this by development to see if they can come up with an explaination as to why this could happen.
Kind regards,

Hi Bruce,
My domain name is held by Telivo and I had web forwarding set up to my Actinic site using a Masked setting, which uses frame based forwarding, so that my domain name only is shown in the browser address line. I changed this yesterday to a Re-Direct setting and the full Actinic address is now shown. I have only taken two order since doing this but both came through Paypal ok. Could this be the cause of my problem?
Thanks, Paul

Paul,
The frames were the issue. Glad it is sorted.

I have had the same problem with paypal too. :(
My website has been active for the last month or two and i would say about 25% of the time I get the same problem.
Surley we can use framed web forwarding??? Otherwise there is hardly no point having a co.uk address if the web address will be shown as actinic. It would be great if this problem could be resolved.

Brad,
To use a domain name with Express you must point the domain to our servers IP otherwise things wont work correctly.
The problem with paypal could also be caused by the customers browser not accepting the Paypal cookie.
They either have
1. Customer has cookies set to disabled.
2. Customer has some privacy software installed which is preventing cookies from being set.
The paypal system relies totally on cookies so if they aren't accepted the system doesn't work. On the other hand Actinic Express itself can work without cookies.

Hi Bruce,
As I said above, my domain name is with Telivo. They require 2 IP addresses to point to. Actinic customer services could only give me one, so I used forwarding instead. Is that right? Is there only one IP address?
Glad to report that since lifting the Masked setting, I have had no further problems with Paypal.

Hi Paul,
There is only one IP address. Using forwarding to the actinic long URL will work perfectly fine. Good to hear the PayPal problems have gone !!

I just want to check a few things.
If I want to point my domain to actinics server IP address will it mean that my website will be down for a few days ?? I have heard this could be the case. I have your IP address as have spoken to your call center. I believe then I have to change the setting in my actinic express shop too.
I just want to confirm that I should go into the settings of my domain holder (UKREG) and then go into DNS settings and then change the A record. I believe the MX record should stay the same as this is to do with e-mail.
Would I then also stop the web forwarding setting which is currently framed ??
Can you confirm this for me or give me a guide as I dont really want to mess this up and then have my website down for a while !!
For me its important that my website shows my website rather than displaying all the details of actinic express and all actinic express links etc etc
Best Regards
Brad

Ok I have read all the posts but I cannot fix the paypal problem that myself and others are experiencing. The cookie problem and how the transaction has expired.
Can someone just tell me what steps I need to do- do I need web forwarding, do I need to change my DNS settings? If I do this do I then need to change the domain name settings in the actinic account?
Any help would be great- would be nice to begin accepting payments!!
