I cant understand the actinic ftp.
I am trying to log into my server so I can upload my ssl files.
Actinic just keeps on logging me into my email mailbox folder.
How can I specify that I want the program to log me into the root of the server!!!!!!????
Please tell me - I think I am about to hang myself with my mouse cord.

Catalog always uses the default ftp settings (determined by the server). When an ftp connection is created then Catalog logs in into the default ftp folder. Then the ftp path specified on the Network settings is used to change to the proper folder.
How can I specify that I want the program to log me into the root of the server!!!!!!???? I'm afraid this can not be set at Catalog side.
However I can not see why is this required. If your network settings are correct then it doesn't really matter what is the default login folder.

Thanks heaps for your answer. I think that my network settings must be incorrect .....
http://westoncreative.net/images/preferences.gif
is my current settings ...however the path to my actual web site on the server is
/home/sites/www.mysite.co.uk/web
so do i have to put something like
/home/sites/www.mysite.co.uk/web/cgi-bin
for the PATH TO THE CGI-BIN in the 'ftp details' in order to change the ftp connection to the correct folder?
Thanks Again!

try changing these 2 paths, leave the rest as they are
Path to CGI-BIN /web/cgi-bin/
leave Path from CGI-bin to acatalog empty

I just tried that .....it says (when i try to connect)
Error accessing the cgi-bin.
Possible Cause:
The directory does not exist on the remote server
The permissions on the directory on the
remote server are locked
The wrong Path to the CGI-BIN is specified in your
web site details in
the Business Settings
...this is sounding like the permissions on my server are locked...?

speak to your host and get them to confirm the status of the cgi-bin and ensure that you can change permissions

On the right-hand side, try changing the 'Path to CGI-BIN' to
cgi-bin/
And leave the field underneath it blank.

Okay here's the deal
Actinic was looking at my server where i had set up a virtual site. However I had been using cobalt on a linux machine (and didnt have a clue how to set up this server that my client had paid for) and didnt properly create a user for the root of the server.
Therefore, Actinic went to my server and then logged me into the user I had created which had no permissions for the root. It then couldnt redirect to the root because of 550 errors. (but it doesnt tell you this, it just says it cant upload files)
I in the end got someone to give me a server root user and actinic logged on and found the relevant directories i specified in network settings.
Phew - I got to upload my catalog!!!!!!!!!!!
At the moment I am having a prob when I go to Checkout as it tries to load in
http://www.hootersbras.co.uk/Act_PreviewWarningPage.html?ACTION=Start%21
Could this be something to me having to reupload my scripts?
Thanks For all your help, those at actinic especially.

http://www.hootersbras.co.uk/Act_PreviewWarningPage.html?ACTION=Start%21
This is the address that is used for the 'checkout' link when you are in preview mode. Somehow a preview page has been uploaded to the store. It is probably left over from when you werre manually uploading your pages.
I would suggest you remove all pages from your acatalog folder online and then go to 'Web | Refresh Website'.

that has helped a lot...what i did was to create my own brochure pages without Actinic (ie. in dreamweaver) .
Therefore if I put
http://www.thesite/cgi-bin/ca000001.pl?ACTION=SHOWCART
on the button...it should work like other pages that are generated by Actinic, right?
Thanks!!!!!
