Hi,

I have a large and growing number of products on my site and the user experience is getting quite poor. On loading the site it immediatly shows all products and consequently loads all thumbnails, this takes time.

How can I make my site only show a couple of products on initial load and only show the rest when someone uses the search function?

I have tried all options in express and none seem to make a difference, it still loads all products.

Express is supposed to work with up to 20k products so I presume there must be a way to do this.

Any help appreciated

you need to arrange your products into sections and restrict each page within a section to less than 15 products.

this way each section will load more quickly

You can reduce the size of the jpg's compression quite a lot, this will speed things up a vast amount

Look up jpg's on this forum to find out more details

Thanks I will give this a go with the first 15 and see what happens.

Will it only load one section of products at a time then, i.e to see the rest you have to either

1) search for it or 2) click on the next section

Chris
I actually sell jpg's from the store so it is important the detail is visible, this is already a careful balancing act between too big that someone can print rather than order and too small that you can;t see them!

But thanks anyway I will have a look at threads on jpg's
