editing little side boxes

i'm sure this has probably been covered so many times before, but i cant seem to find the answer.
ive been changing the look and feel of my site, and i would like to be able to add more details (text and images with hyper links) in the little boxes at the left hand side but cant seem to find anywhere to do this.

any guidance would be most appreciated.
