Hi there,
Can you please check out my site www.bargain-shop-online.co.uk
I keep getting a page loaded but with errors message on mainly product pages. Sometimes its O.K sometimes an error.

Can you tell me if you get them also and if you can work out what is causing it?

The site seems slow and I am in communication wish my host about this.

Many thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

I don't get any errors when looking at your site. I am running IE6 on windows XP.

Hi

I get an error "'sections' is undefined" on this bit of code "<script language=Javascript1.1>document.write(ACT_DropListBox(sections))</script>".

Many thanks, any idea how I would go about fixing this?
Please treat me as dumb, my mind is all confused after hours of searching templates.

Simon

Try putting the following line into Act_Primary.html

<!--@act NETQUOTEVAR:TOPLEVELSECTIONS_RAW -->

It needs to go within the <HEAD> </HEAD> section.

Hope that helps.

Simon

You seem to have fixed the problem on your site.... the javascript errors I saw 30 minutes ago have gone now. Your site appears to work fine now.

BTW: Your site is painfully slow at the moment!

Cheers

Nick
The errors are still appearing for me.
The site is dreadfully slow and I think it is to do with the host upgrading something. Although it is still slow during normal operation.
I am seriously considering changing hosts as they are very slow and it is almost impossible to contact them and receive any kind of reply.
Trouble as always is cost. And I have paid two years up front.

These errors are really winding me up as I cannot think of anything that has been changed recently that could effect it.

I did have a similar problem a few months ago and helped another forum user with the same problem. Errors came up or something wasn't loading, and it was all down to two pictures with the same name or something.

HI Simon

I'm still getting those errors. It seems to have something to do with the java script componants, but I'm no expert on this so I can't shed any more light. Maybe someone else could enlighten.

Hi Simon

If you want to post your Act_Primary.html file as an attachment we'll take a look at it for you.

As for the speed of your site.... it is still very slow this morning. You may want to consider a new hosting provider.

Hi Nick,
Thank you for taking a look at it for me.
Here are some more details which may help or maybe just confuse the issue.

Brochure pages i.e the home page, and the main section page and also the order process pages appear to be fine.

It seems to be mainly the product pages.
If you look at the details of the error on the page it lists several lines which seem fine to me, unless obviously I missed something.

Sometimes if you wait long enough for page to load:o and you get the loaded but with errors notice, you can refresh the page and sometimes it is fine.

Speed is diabolicle, it has never been this bad, and I wonder if the errors are effecting it.

I am seriously considering changing hosts anyway but need to get the site working again first. (I will be checking your site out in more detail).

Files attached, good luck.

Hi Simon

Your Act_Primary template looks fine.

I just tried it on a site that we are developing which I uploaded to a test URL. Although the site I have tested it on only has a couple of sections, it all worked fine with no javascript errors and the there is no issue with speed.

However, I did notice that when I browsed the test site before the upload had completed, a Javascript error did occur. The error cleared itself once the upload completed and I refreshed my browser.

This leads me to think that your problem is server related. I would guess that something that should have been uploaded by Actinic to your server (perhaps one of the javascript files) has been corrupted or is simply not there.

My suggestion, if your web host can stay up long enough, is to try a "web site refresh" from Actinic.

If you still have no luck then you need to talk to your hosting provider (the speed of the server is very poor).

I can lend you some space on one of our servers to upload your site to as a test if you like. I think this will prove that there is nothing wrong with your site....it's your web host that is letting you down.

If you want to try the above, please contact me off list at nick.cook@hazelnet.co.uk

Thanks for all your help Nick.
I am currently changing hosts as I have run out of patience with my current one and am loosing custom.

I did actually try 2 site refreshes during the early hours (didn't have any sleep). Same problems as you know.

I actually get the errors in I.E 6 whilst previewing the site from Actinic as well.

I'll keep you guys informed on how I get on, and if it still stands may take you up on your offer.

All the best

Simon

I found the same as Nick. Very slow but no script errors.

If you want someone from Actinic to take a look at your templates and test them for errors then register a support question here (http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm) and they'll get back to you with instructions.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your help.

How do I register a support question??

I suppose it good well be an error in another template.

Thanks

Simon

Hi,
Just in case you guys were wondering, I have sorted out this problem now.

Gary traced the fault down to a java script in my Act_productline template.

I then realised that the other main part of that script which should have been in Act_Primary was actually missing.
It was actually trying to call on a script that was no longer there.

Simple when you know how.

Thanks for all your help.
