I have decided to move our domain from legend, we went with BT cause we got ADSL in 3 locations for a discount.

After conversations with BT, noone knew whether actinic would function properly. I managed to persuade them to give me the requirements (traders pack etc) temporarily to test it out. It seems to be fine until you get to the shopping cart then, 500 - internal server error.

So, I know this has been asked but i want an up to date answer if poss.

What hosts are people using?

Were there any initial configuration teething problems?

What are the approx costs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not clear on what what you're asking for. Suggestions for getting this to work with BT or suggestions for a new host?

Mike

There are a list of recommended hosts over at www.actinic.co.uk

It is also worth doing a forum search on hosting as there have been several discussions about who people use, experiences etc

there have been posts in the past about BT, there can be issues with cgi-bin permissions. (500 Internal Error is a cgi-bin problem)

What hosts are people using?

There are also numerous posts about other hosts, as Jont says use the actinic site for recommendations, and also search here on those recommendations for further info.

Everyone has their favourite hosts, a host who is good for one person can also be bad for another.

Some provide good hosting with bad tech support, some are good if you don't require any help from the host, others are better if you need your hand held.

again a forum search on hosts will bring up posts on how to configure the network settings.

Some hosts will provide network settings to import to save you the anguish.

What are the approx costs?

Costs vary from host to host, this info will be held on hosts websites.
