I see we now have many font options available to improve text throughout the site. How will this work at the viewers PC if they do not have the font installed - will it default and loose the intended formatting.

They are just a display of your system installed fonts as per WORD or your DTP program .... bit naughty having that as still always best to stick to the main font families for the web for maximum accessibility.
As you say if you select XYZ-fancy font on your machine it will default to system font on the users browser and ruin your page layout and design

font-famlies to stick to are:
verdana, tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif
georgia, "Times New Roman", serif
... there is comic sans also but this is plain awful

bit naughty having that Agreed, as most people will use the dropdown to select what ever they want, not understanding the implications.

As a side note, there is a drop-down list now to select default site font in 'Settings | Site Options | General' - under the 'Appearance Settings' heading.

Hi,
Just to let you know that the latest v8 beta (downloadable from www.actinic.co.uk/v8) now puts a DesignFonts.ini file in the installation folder that contains only the following fonts:
Font1=Arial
Font2=Georgia
Font3=Helvetica
Font4=sans-serif
Font5=serif
Font6=Times
Font7=Times New Roman
Font8=Verdana
They will only appear in the drop-down box if they are installed on your system.

would it be worth adding is as default Tahoma and (as nasty as it is) Comic Sans to display the full set of standard web fonts

Fantastic - that will solve lots of potential problems.

You can add these to the ini file manually but I'll put it to the development team to get them added as standard.
