Just reading through the mailing list function in the guide and there does not seem to be a facility to only select emails/contact details from customers who have given permission for thier details to be used.

Is thier a check box at check out where people can opt in to marketing? if not then you could run the risk of being caught for SPAM by breaking current EU laws. It would be nice if this is included as I think the ability to market to previous customers is very important.

.. for the benefit of the thread the tick box needs enabling under Design | Text phase=0 id=15 to allow users to keep details out of the mailing list

and/or ability to unsubsribe on the website

Mailing lists are a major undertaking...

You can also check the user defined general fields as well. So long as you have been asking people whether they wish to be emailed it will cope well with your existing data. If you haven't been asking then you can use the date filter to exclude all orders before a certain date.

No new fields have been added to the database just to deal with the mailing lists options, so existing orders will be fine.

Has anyone come across the list being empty - could well be something I've not ticked but every option I try is coming up with 0 :confused:

It will be the options you have set, go through each screen and click on the clear button, go the the front tab and untick both of the dates, set the order status to any and try again.

This would have been better off started as a new thread I think.
