Hi

I wanted to set up three shipping zones, but all in the UK. Am I right in thinking that this is not going to be possible? I need UK Mainland, UK Offshore and Local collection. The first two will have different postage rates with the third being free. I really hope someone can see a way round this as I don't know what I'm going to do otherwise!

Help!

Ali

Hi,

Setting up the Shipping Zones etc should not be an issue. If you go into Advacned | Locations, select 'United Kingdom' on the left and then click the '+' under 'States/Provinces:' to create a new row, here you can enter the new zone. You can then create shipping zones that match these locations.

Search for 'UK mainland' or 'Channel Islands' and you should come across several threads that deal with this topic. It hs been discussed in huge detail.

Kind regards,

Hi Ali

Further to Bruce's suggestion which is for Actinic Catalog,Business and Developer, I'm afraid this would be a limitation in Actinic Express. As we cannot add new countries, but can create new shipping zones. The countries already assigned to a shipping zone will not appear in the 'list of countries' to be added for the other shipping zones. Hence a country already added to a zone will not be available for another zones.

Thanks for trying Bruce!

I am guessing then, that it is not going to be possible to set this up the way I want to.

For those who may be reading this to try to find an answer to the same problem, I have a cobbled-together solution (below). If anyone has any other solutions please let me know, as I'm still not happy with it!

For the local delivery and collection, I have created a new product on the home page called "Local Collection or Delivery" and have explained that local customers can add this to their shopping cart for free delivery. I have then given it a weight of 100kg and set my UK shipping zone to charge £0 postage for orders over 100kg.

I have finally decided that I cannot provide different shipping zones within the UK (i.e. UK Mainland and Highlands and Islands). I am just going to have to swallow the extra costs on that one. If postage for a particular order is too high I will have to email the customer and cancel the order.

Neither of these solutions are problem free or look particularly professional, but it is the only way of physically solving the problems that I can think of.

Any suggestions gratefully received . . .
