Catalog v6 has a limit of 10,000 acording to the literature. Never got close to that myself.

As far as I know there is no hard limits in the code. The 10,000 what you could find in the literature most likely down to the fact that we are regularly testing the application with a 10,000 products database. I believe Catalog can work with more products but we have never tested that.
As we are not using hard limits in the code the maximum site size is mostly down to the underlaying technologies (e.g. MS Access) and the performance (for an extra large shop a server side solution might be better).

Hi ya
I am just about to test a "simple" site with 12,129 products....... or 8 products and 2,000 odd variants in each...
I'll let you know.

hmmm 10,00 products
That day will be worth waiting for...
I could launch Actinic Business (v15.5) from my...yacht in Monaco, exclusive villa retreat in the Maldives...and watch the message come through..."Retrieving orders...2,000 orders were retrieved from the website".
I'd definitely need a Mole End Batch Order plugin then...

Hi Jim
The products are geeky / nerdy upgrades / components to PC's.
12,000 variants spread over 4 different prodcuts. Each one programmed with specific code for the host machine. Yuk
see: Upgradestore (http://www.upgradestore.co.uk)
Jim -- nice site. www.tutor2u.net
In my "day job" I am setting up: 5th Way (http://www.5th-way.co.uk) a portal site for teaching resources. Ideally focusing on "tecchie" resources, experiements etc etc. Still in early stages as I have yet to quit the real paying job (Actinic designer). The site is coded in Xoops an open source CRM and uses OS commerce as a plug in.
Good luck
Glen

Sorry to bang on..
My client now wants each product in a seperate section..
So.. can I have 10,000 sections in the database?

That should be fine. The issue is merely that you are going to end up with 10,000 HTML pages, which will take up a lot of space on your PC, a lot of space on the website, and will take a long time to upload if you ever need to do a refresh.
