View Full Version : data truncated - need extra advice

Hi
I've searched the knowledge base and looked through the forum for answers, found some but I need a bit of extra advice on this one.
When I uploaded Actinic yesterday I got a box saying Data Truncated. So I searched the forums. Found an answer that included this: "This means that somewhere in the catalog you have entered too many characters for a certain field."
I knew exactly which field I had entered too many characters into so I changed it to make it contain less characters - it was a title of a fragment in my home page. I did this and then the rest of my homepage fragments disappeared (I have a back up, thank goodness!).
But I'm still getting the Data Truncated box. Customers can still access my site online, they can still order and I can still receive their orders and process them but I can't upload my site (I have changes that require uploading).
I read on a few of the forum replies that I should Purge Catalog.
What does this actually do? And do you think that this will remove my Data Truncated box?
I raised a ticket on this last night but have heard nothing from Actinic yet. So thought someone may be able to help me on the forums.
Julie

Since writing I've tried to Purge Catalog but it comes up with Truncated Data box again.
Can anyone advise please?
Julie

Julie,

Please compact your databases.. 'Housekeeping | Compact Database' and once done, then try refreshing your site.

Kind regards,

Hi Bruce
Thanks for the advice.
I've compacted the databases and then tried to refresh the website, but upon refreshing the data truncated box pops up repeatedly and won't go away, thus preventing me from updating.
Got any other advice, any of which would be much appreciated?!
Julie

I think someone from the Actinic support team needs to take a look at your database to figure out what is going on. You can register an email support query at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm

Thanks for all your advice.
I've managed to get someone from Actinic support to take a look at the site and have emailed a snapshot to them this afternoon.
Fingers crossed I can get it sorted out.
