The strange orders have reared their ugly head again, Numeric order number, invoice printed, payment method is invoice and payment before delivery ( Although this isn't an option ), Can't be opened as its corrupt
This was a problem a while ago which never seemed to get resolved but I've had about 10 orders like this in the last week.
Has anyone made any progress?
One customer told me he was using a cookie washer and experienced problems at the same time one of these orders came in.

There is sometimes an issue if people get half-way through the checkout and then use the back and forward buttons to go back to the store and adjust their order. This creates a blank order, but not a corrupt one.
What is a cookie washer? And did the customer describe what sort of problems they were experiencing?

Had another 3 today - but 2 look like they are from the same person, very close together.
The customer told me his cookie washer strips all information from cookies every 5 minutes for security reasons, a touch of paranoia perhaps.

Certainly if all information is stripped from the cookie during the checkout then the order would not complete correctly - and you may end up with a order that is like the one you describe.
If you want a member of the Actinic team to take a look at your site then why not register a support query HERE (http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm) and one of the team will get back to you.

Hi,
Has there been any result in solving this problem as I have started to get it. I am using Actinic v5 and have had 6 orders like this in the last week. Order commes down with £0, "invoice and payment before delivery" which isn't an option that can be chosen on the site, and the order won't let you open it as it says it is corrupt.
Any help would be apreciated.

Hi
I've read around a bit more on this subject, and have heard a couple of ideas as to why this is happening, the first is that it is created for some reason when an order is placed alongside a correct order, so you don't lose the order, you just get two down instead of one, and one of them is corrupt. I can say for certain that this is false, as I have had these corrupt orders down on there own with no other orders near them.
I have also read that this problem can be solved by updating to the latest release of Actinic V5, I can also say with certainty that this is also false as I updated Actinic this morning, refreshed the site, and have just downloaded another corrupt order.
This is very frustraiting, I run several sites using Actinic Catalog, and two on Business V6, and we never have this problem on any other sites. Anyone have any ideas where I can go from here?
Cheers,
Paul
Paul, could you post a URL for the site so I can see the error log.

Could you post any interesting results please as I have been waiting quite some time for an answer.
I get runs of them where I get none and then 6 or so all at once
Thanks

The URL for this site is:
http://www.ukfantasyzone.co.uk
Slightly adult in nature, sexy clothing, toys etc, don't view if your offended by this type of thing.
We also run several other sites that have no problems such as:
http://www.argoth.co.uk

Any ideas on this? I've just had another glut of them through.

They are created also when a customer gets to the last page of the checkout and then uses 'Back' to change the contents of the cart. This disrupts the session and causes multiple orders to be created.
If a customer did this a lot on an order, it could potentially create a glut of orders.
This has been fixed now in v6, but I don't think it was ever fixed in v5.

Thanks for the reply.
I decided to try to replicate this by pressing the back and forward button a lot, I did it several times on the site we have problems with but could not manage to recteate the corrupt orders. Also we have several sites all running the same version of Actinic V5 - the most up to date one - 6.0.1.0.0.0 CLCB and it has only ever happened on one of them, so I don't think that is the cause.

Hmm - well that's the only thing I have ever heard of causing this issue.
I'm not really set up to investigate problems. I suggest you register a support query in the 'Technical Support' area of the website if you want the support/development team to help you investigate further.

With all respect, I went through all this months ago, posting off databases etc and never heard if any progress had been made
Just gone to V6, so I hope they don't appear

Well, a bit of a selfish attitude, but understandable I suppose. I'm surprised that something like this has been known about for so long, but had nothing done about it. It does seem like quite a major fault in V5. Does anyone know if it would be solved by going to SSL? I'm assuming that it's the applet that causes this problem.

I wasn't having a dig at anyone, I spent a lot of time trying to find the answer to this one and then the final word was log it as a support call and heard no more about it.
I agree it should be sorted and wasn't being smug about moving to V6, but V6 is MUCH better and has sorted a couple of little other buggy things

Ok David, cheers, looks like V6 it is then. I have moved to this on a couple of sites, and I do like it, it's just that apart from the corrupt orders V5 was fine for this site.
