Hi,
Is there a way in which I can set it up so that someone without actinic can download orders, or does it have to be done through actinic?
Thanks

This has to be done using Actinic. The orders are encrypted and are stored as separate files which can be seen on the server (via ftp) but can only be interpreted and managed by Actnic. Your licence will cover you to install Actinic on two computers though; one to maintain the content and the other to manage the orders.

There is order manager (can never remember the exact name) which allows a user to only download and process orders whilst site maintenance is handled by the designer with the full blown version of Actinic

Thanks for the help everyone!
Looks like I'll have to either install actinic on the other persons computer or simply send him thte files.
Thanks
You could email the invoice report to him, either use one of my plugins, (One stop Automation : http://www.mole-end.biz/acatalog/One-Stop-Automation-for-Actinic.html or One Stop Order Processing : http://www.mole-end.biz/acatalog/Multiuser-One-Stop-Order-Processing-For-Actinic.html) or install a PDF printer and do it all by hand.

Be wary of your generosity Lee - if the site takes off you could end up being their unofficial order processor

Yeah. I don't really want that, as I'm not being paid for doing this for them.
The trials for both of those programs are fully functional, they will stop working after 30 days though.

The best solution is to allow the client to download order using the inbuilt licencing of actinic.
Ie order on one machine, product input/design on another, this can be done at 2 different locations.

How would I set it up on the second computer to use the same site? Surely actinic would create a different site on the second computer and actinic would use that?

if you search the forum you will find where this has been discussed before.
It should be in the documentation supplied by actinic too

Installing a snapshot onto the 2nd PC will set up all the network details, encryption keys etc. Under View | Business Settings | Options you can set the "allow on this pc" options accordingly to disable everything bar order processing

Ah. Thankyou! I already knew about changing permission setting, but I wasn't sure how to set it up on another computer.
Thankyou very much!

Sorry to ask, but if we have it setup this way with orders on one PC and design on another, if the design PC was to download orders would they still download to the orders PC? I would like to see the order aswell thats what I'm trying to say.
Thanks

when you download orders they go to one PC only ie the PC that downloads them. Orders can not be downloaded to 2 PCs.
you could choose to have the email confiration coming to you so you can see what is ordered

Thank you
I'm new to this way of posting question.
Can you have two emails addresses getting confiration?
