Hi
Is anyone using Paypal Pro with Express? I have just registered for it and it looks great but I was just wondering how people are getting on with it? I will only have a few weeks of the free trial before I will have to start paying the £20 so I need to know if it is a great as it says it is!

Thanks.

Hi Ali,

I use Paypal Pro and I am pretty happy with it as now people can go on my website and pay directly with any debit / credit card without having to go via paypal website. Also it allows you to process telephone orders with anyone's credit/debit card number via the Virtual terminal. Generally its a much more proffesional look although I have had a few problems getting it set up along the way !

I know there are other merchant accounts you can have that do the same thing but they all seem to charge a monthly fee and a percentage (certainly on credit cards). I am happy with it but would like to see Paypal offering this service without having to pay the monthly fee as they are already making enough money with the transaction charges.

Best regards

Hi Brad,
That's good to know that it is working well. How long do you think it took to get set up properly - did you have to chase people? I am just wondering if we are going to actually get it working before the end of the free trial!

I know HSBC charge a similar amount every month for their online payment processing and there is a £100 set up fee as well as transaction charges. Also you have to be putting through a huge amount every year to qualify, which we are not yet. So Paypal Pro looks like a great option compared to that!

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Ali,

It only took a week or two and you need to get Actinic to set up a special payment module and its then pretty easy. I had a few toothing troubles where I had problems with Visa cards but it all seems to be ok at the moment.

Yes I dont have a huge spend via my website at the moment so it is ideal for smaller companys.

hi,
i would like to ask why the set up fee is different from different bank ? HSBC costs £ 100 , but Llody bank costs £ 350 . Is it the same?
anyone got idea , pls advise me and i will be very appreciated.
Recently i got so many abandoned carts in our shop. At the moment ,we are using paypal and paypal pro as our payment method. Are people are associating paypal with ebay and are afraid of fraud?

Hi Guys,

I have been using Paypal Pro for quite a few months now and not had too many problems apart from the first month or so when I had a problem with Visa credit cards. I would say speak to Paypal Business as they are normally quite helpfull.

HI all....

Well the site is on its way :o but I have a question...

Why is it preferred that one should pay to subscribe to PayPal Pro when theoretically you could use PayPal Standard thingy for free?

Or have I got this wrong?

I appreciate some of the benefits of PayPal Pro but we already have a PDQ machine so therefore don't need to fully enlist PayPalPro...

..I think!

Any ideas?

best wishes,
jules

Hi Jules

Sorry about the delay in responding to your question.

PayPal and PayPal Pro are an alternative to receiving credit card numbers securely and punching them into your own PDQ terminal. New business generally are not allowed to process credit card numbers themselves, so they need someone like PayPal to do it for them.

THe advantage of PayPal Pro over standard PayPal is that if you are a shopper, you don't need a PayPal account to use PayPal Pro.

You don't need a Paypal account with standard Paypal either. You're only forced into using a Paypal account if the buyers email address (or I think card number or physiacl address) is linked to an existing Paypal account.

An advantage with PP Pro is that you can use a Virtual Terminal to enter CC details off-line.
