This was an issue I asked about a while back, but I found it a bit difficult to explain. I sell woodburning stoves etc and have given each product its own page and would therefore like to add a bit more detail to the section link in the page before. I have added a short description but would to add specific details such as height, output etc and feel the best way to do this would be in the form of a CUSTOMVAR. Below is one of the many pages I would like to use this with :

http://www.firesonline.com/acatalog/Fires_Online_Charnwood_Wood_Burning_Stoves.html

but the section CUSTOMVAR's will not show up. I now know they can only be used in the section below, but this is only helpful if each section below has the same variable.

I could hard code the details into the description, but this limits me if I ever want to change the layout.

Is there a hack to allow me to use the CUSTOMVAR details typed in a section actually in that section.

Thanks in advance.

You could try putting the customvar in the very top level of the store Design>Option>Site Defaults -- Properties

Hi Wyn

It sounds as though you're using a old version of v6. With v6.1.3 you can specify a customvar in a section and the value specified is displayed in the link for THAT section as well as the sub-section one level below. This would work for you if you entered dimensions and price as customvars for a section, they would be displayed for that section link layout.

What version of the software are you on (check in 'Help | About...'). There was a fix recently (I think it was in 6.1.0) that allows CUSTOMVARs defined at the section level to appear both within a section page, and also within the link into that section.

I've just tested it on my 6.1.2 and it worked fine.
