I know one is supposed to have incoming links in order to get listed by Google - can any one tell me how you set these up on Express? I know Im being a bit thick here but bear with me.
Secondly, I see from another thread that Express is database driven and thus is unfriendly to Google - Im a bit cross about this as Express is particularly advertised as SE friendly. Is there any way of ameliorating this or do we just have to upgrade to Catalogue?
Thirdly ( yes I know Im being cheeky here) I notice from an old thread that it's a good wheeze to have your url pointed at another page with a link to the site - how would I go about setting this up?
Any advice gratefully received.

Is there any way of ameliorating this or do we just have to upgrade to Catalogue? Big words! had to google that one. Checking your site shows all your pages are indexed by Google - they are in the suplimentary results but that is not due to Express.
As far as SEO goes - google states that with pages such as those created by Express the use of "?" should be kept to an absolute minimum. Obviously once is ok as they have indexed the pages. So looking at your site there is no real problem.
HTML pages will always be more SE friendly than database generated pages - but google etc are getting better, 2 years ago a database site would not show at all so they are working on it and in a few years time then there may be no difference.

Thanks Malcom, but can you tell me,
What is the difference between the supplementary listings and whatever the other ones are, please?

difference between the supplementary listings and whatever the other ones are Supplementary results are not available for searches ie any content on those pages will not be included when someone searches on Google.
Do a search on the forum it has been discussed many times recently.

You would need to buy a little bit of server space and have it pointed through a step through page then refreshed to your actinic URL. Costs me £20 annually and enables Google to pick up all my keywords

You should really have a genuine link back to your own site.
The idea of an incoming link is to get credibility for Google thus it needs to be from a site with its own PR (hopefully 4 or more) thus if you create a small satelite to link in from it probalbly won't have its own PR to pass on. Google always used to prefer to find your site from another site it already has indexed, i'm not so sure that is quite so true now with the advent of google site maps

Costs me £20 annually and enables Google to pick up all my keywords I noticed this while looking at your site on your other post. This is a Black Hat SEO trick and if someone reported you to google it could get your site banned - I would not advise anyone else to copy this little trick.

Ok Thanks.
I'm just a beginner
But it does seem to have done the trick to get listed in site engines (not only Google) fast.
Its no1 worldwide ranking for "Ratsport" in Google
Maybe I should assume all the engines have picked it up by now and quit while I'm ahead?
cheers
