has anyone figured how to make a donation 'product' exempt from shipping and handling cost????

Currently I am charging Shipping according to quantity of product, and the donation is set to increments of £1, so it requires the quantity field.

Can anyone suggest a way round this because I cant see it.

Thanks

A workaround would be to change to charging shipping by weight.

Then create two shipping bands in the table that look like this:

Weight in kg | Cost
0.00 | £0.00
1.00 | £1.00

Set the 'Default Weight in kg' field to '1.00' and then enter a weight of '0.00' for your donation product.

but i cant set shipping by weight as it is meant to be dependant on the quantity of the items (the customer specified this).
Could you suggest anything else?

Chris's suggestion will work. A nominal 1 kg weight for most things and 0 kg for free shipping items will give you exactly the effect you looking for.

You can change the text from "Weight in kg" to "Chargable shipping items" (or something like that).

thanks! i didnt realise you could have both weight and quantity as factors in the shipping costs.

You can't really have both but by using a weight of 1 for each product it looks as if you are charging per unit.

My advice to you wombatboy is to pleade with your client to
go with shipping weight, not quantity.

I see issues in your future with the quantity option. Not
neccessarily because of Actinic, but because, the shipping
world really does revolve around weight.

I kept proding at one of my clients, and they finally caved.

I was even able to give them a donations page that doesn't
get charged for shipping, after they caved. You can view it at:

Let me know if you need any help setting up one for yourself.
