Quick question to the experts :)

I would like to develop two websites for a client. Catch is, they only want one back end system

The first site has a catalogue full of products, the second site only one product, but it does appear in the full catalogue.

Is it possible to have one catalogue/ordering system for the two sites...but...in the site with only one product fence off all the other products to make only one available.

The order management would then process the orders irrespective of the site it was purchased from.

Thanks...

Jonathan.

You can'y have two separate sites using one copy of the software I am afraid.

It is not possible to connect two separare product databases into one cart solution, plus ordering pages.

You might want to consider Catalog LE for the single product site. It was on a cover disc of a magazine not so long ago.

All the best...

Not sure if I described the situation properly...apologies. But there is only one product database, just that one of the sites only sees one product from it...

Does that make a difference?

Thanks,

Jonathan.

When you say two sites, are you talking about under separate domain names, or separate sections within one domain name?

what you can do is.....

have your main site under one domain run it as usual, but customise your navigation

have the 2nd site with 1 product only. put this product in a section on its own

with your custom nav for the first site ignore the section that the one product is in

for your second site link it to the one product only

you will have to remove thesitemap to.

you could put each site into a frame so each one keeps its own URL.

I have sucessfully done the above....once the site were making money they were separated!!

The other way to do this is to copy the .ord files from one site to the other, they will then downloaded to the one machine and you will have exactly what you want.
