Hi
I have finally managed to make the hardware work.
I have tried a sale (in trial mode) and it went fine, but I have a few questions:
1. why does the Display go off a second after the sale without showing the 'Next Customer ... (or any set text)' ? It is set on within the Setup/Display tab!
2. Is it possible to change/adjust the barcode reader sound?
It is not for all ears!
3. Is there a way to shorten the receipt instead of how it is now at 3.5m? Joke!
I also noted that if you do not enter some of the fields, the program leaves the space empty instead of get rif of the line and shorten the receipt!
Thanks

Hello Actinico
The display is working as designed, the 'next customer please' message appears on the display when you click lock on the slaes screen, you would normally lock the sales screen after a sale, and if you are not going to be near the till.
What barcode reader are you using? Most barcode readers are plug and play, and there is no software installed for the reader to change the sound - you would need to refer to the manufacturers instructions on how to switch the sound off.
Theres several things you could remove from the receipt to make it shorter, if you can remove the barcode on the receipt (if one is being printed at the moment) by going to the main menu, then Setup | Printing, and unchecking 'Print barcode on receipt', you could try removing the 'Receipt/invoice message top' and 'receipt/invoice message bottom', other than that, the receipt length is fairly standard.
Hope that helps

Thank you for your help
My barcode reader is the 'you' sold us!
Voyager MS9520
In this kind of software - self-customazation is paramount and I believe many will agree with me.
It is not nice, to get the usual reply: that is out of our hands and 'you would need to refer to the manufacturers instructions' type of reply.
I do understand it is not your personal fault on this regard - if you do not have the means you cannot help.
But the Company you work for should do something and make their product (together with the hardware they sell) customazable - this would also make you sell more of that hardware too, because of it.
Having spent £. 1,000 for something that is really worth half of it (prices are always doubled if the equipment is for business!), then we get all this problems + plus the above, we feel like we do not own the equipment and we paid the Actinic licence only to use at 'Actinic' discretion. With that I mean we cannot really do much to customize it. This program is only an interface with a standard Access DB with a few macro to drive the hardware!
Mid this is a productive and positive critic and not a bad advertising and for a big Company like Actinic is a shame. No wonder I am still using third party (fully customazable) MySql database online!
I can see problems coming on if we decide to connect EPOS to our online stores!!

Hi there
If you refer the manual, on page 28 there is a barcode you can scan to switch the beep off.
Hope that helps

But the question was also:
Most barcode readers are plug and play, and there is no software installed for the reader to change the sound .... as in adjust and in other words custom set it.

Hi there
No there isnt any software to change the sounds, theres just the barcodes in the manual to change the sound settings - all you do is simply scan the barcode in the manual.
