View Full Version : Abandoned Carts

I have major problems with abondoned carts.

I've only had the Actinic Express shop for a couple of weeks but I'm getting 10 abandoned carts to every order.

I'm using Protx as the only payment method, and some orders are completed so technically the system works.

Clearly, from recent posts, others are having a similar issues, and I wondered if we could guage the extent of this problem in this forum.

It could just be that my previous on-line shop didn't report abandoned carts, so I simply didn't know about it, but what I do know is that the number of completed orders has dropped significantly since using Express.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Jeff

Sorry to go on about this, but

I checked my abandoned carts, about 3:1, to find that:

1) The share details thing is still on my checkout page (I can see from the abandoned carts that people were asked about share details on the checkout stage even though I have removed it from the page supposedly)
2) Most people who abandoned their carts were asked this question - the successful orders were not.

I would be really really grateful if people could trial my site to see if they get asked the question (it doesnt ask me or an administrator when I try it - its bizarre)

cheers

2 things happened to me that would make me stop...

one you don't make it clear that you can order without creating an acct, I got past the acct creation bit by ignoring it but it asked me again

secondly I am now on the page where i type in my CC detail and its not secure ie no HTTPS

Thanks for that people, you are right!

So has anyone idea what the problem is - Actinic Express is supposed to forward to a secure page and be marked as such

What's going wrong?

cheers

What's going wrong? It may be also due to the fact that your site is running in frames - due to your page redirect no doubt:rolleyes:

There's no frames
There is a keyword stuffed forwarding page which forwards into a frameset, leaving no visible page names, no links and no visible content for any bot to find.

I would be surprised if the site is not already subject to a permanent ban by all major search engines.

You need to quickly dump the keyword forwarder, dump the frames - or forget about ever getting SE listings, and rely on paid links.

As bill says there is frames - check your source code:

<noframes>Sorry, you don"t appear to have frame support.
Go here instead - <a href="<A href="http://www.ratsport.triumphshop.co.uk/onlinepurchase/Redirecter.htm">
RatSport</a></noframes">http://www.ratsport.triumphshop.co.uk/onlinepurchase/Redirecter.htm">RatSport</a></noframes>
</frameset>

I didnt bother to mention about the keyword stuffing with hidden text I figured there were enough problems for you to sort out.

Hi there,

Another possibility (don't know about all the frames stuff as I am not that techy!) could be that customers have to search the home page to find out information about postage and packing and how they will be able to pay. As Express doesn't show shipping costs in the checkout until almost the very end of the process maybe potential customers are putting something in their cart so that they can see how much postage will be, then when it doesn't show them straight away they are bailing out.
Must add this to the wish list to be changed actually . . .
But you could put postage rates on the first page so it is really clear for people who are in a hurry???

The secure payment thing is a bigger problem though, hope Support sorts that ASAP for you.

I would be surprised if the site is not already subject to a permanent ban by all major search engines Looks like google has spotted the black hat SEO and removed the site from the index:eek:

As a follow up to my original post, I had a call today from a potential customer who said that she wanted to buy something from my web site but clearly you needed a user name and password in order to log in and she couldn't see anywhere to create an account.

Not an abandoned cart as she didn't even get that far.

I do think this needs some redesign to explain that you don't actually need to log in in order to use the site. As I mentioned in the suggestions thread, I'd personally prefer the option to remove all references to logging in from the site, although I concede that it suits some businesses.

Hi Jeff,

If you go to 'Business Settings | Terms & Conditions' in your control panel then you will see a tick box for 'Registration is Not Required to Buy'. If this is ticked then the customer does not need to create an account, however, if it is unticked the customer will have to create an account.

The first stage of the checkout does say 'No Account Yet? Just leave the fields empty and click Next to continue checkout'. After clicking 'next' to get to the 'Invoice Address' page, there is a section called 'Create Account', which does not need to be filled in unless you are forcing customers to create accounts (as per above). As you haven't provided a URL I can't check your site to see if these details show correctly.

I have added your suggestion to remove the login feature from a site to our wishlist.
