Hi, long story short - my PC totally died and spent all of yesterday and today trying to rebuild it.
Have restored actinic and directories from tape, but when I run it I get an error because it can't find it's registry key so won't run. I can't restore the registry key so how to I get it to recognise the installation?
I assume the best way is to just reinstall over the top, but I can't find the CD - is there a downloadable version (not patch) somewhere?
or is there another way to rebuild? I need to get this up in the next hour!!!

oh, please reply to the board as I don't have my e-mail back up yet - though it is not helped that the DC where my site (and mailservers) are has apparently died too...

John,
Download your version from here (you will still need your licence key):-
http://support.actinic.com/versions/
Have you got a snapshot at all, the best way to get it back is to install a fresh copy of Actinic (you can download from here http://support.actinic.com/versions/) and then recreate each site and copy the backed up sites over the top of the new ones you have created - if this doesn't work, import a snapshot for each site and then (if the snapshot isn't the latest info) copy the sites over the top.

Hi John,
You will need to
1) Reinstall Actinic V7 onto your machine
2) Restore the site1 folder from your backup, overwriting the installed default site1 folder (NB. This is assuming that it is catalog or business and not developer copy - in which case you should try and replicate the site folder names)
If you need a version of 7 you can download it from actinic
http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/downloads.htm
or for earlier V7 version we keep a backup here:
http://www.teclan.co.uk/patch/v7.html
Installing Actinic properly creates all the correct registry entries that the program requires to run. Restoring the site1 folder from backup simply restores all the site specific data that you require for your site to run within the actinic program.
Hope this helps.

ok, reinstalled but I can't find my licence so have chosen 'eval' - but that seems to be restricted to one site, and it's not my main one - doh!!!
now where the heck will my licence key be.... I hate system crashes!
