site snapshop always freezes

My attempt to do a snapshot of my site never finishes because some how it always freezes and I have close the window because it will not be responding.Can anyone tell be how to resolve this .

Try purging the catalog, then compacting the databases first.

... ensure you are clicked onto a product not a fragment, brochure page or section as this is a known "quirk"

Many times it looks like the snapshot has frozen but it is still working so give it a while.
