Hi

anyone out there? thats got knowledge on domain extensions & how actininc will work with them

I currently run actinic v7 off a .com and the .co.uk is a forwarder but due to hosting in Germany (whoops!) it means the new google algo doesnt show any index of the url. So i was going to change to the .co.uk extension and also move host.

if I were to swop these around so that the .com was a forwarder and .co.uk was the main url would i lose many backlinks? any one got any experience on this. I have some good positions for G and Y! and would like to minimise any potential losses.

thanks
Rob

main url would i lose many backlinks you would loose any increase in pagerank given to your site by google due to these links. In effect you would be starting again.

If you know all your backlinks then the best course of action would be to get site owners to ammend the links once the .co.uk is up and running.

hi malcolm

thanks for the advice; if i were to do a 301 redirect to the.co.uk domain from the .com would this carry the pr?

but, to make things more complicated... i run a forum and a blog on the .com subdomain, do you know if a 301 effects subdomains if used.

cheers
