I'm getting this error message when attempting to upload my site.

A server error occurred while attempting to merge server files. 500 - Internal Server Error

Everything runs fine until then. Any ideas?

This means that either:

1) Your server is not allowing Perl scripts to execute

or

2) Your firewall/proxy is blocking the 'Merging' command that Actinic is trying to send to the Perl.

Click 'Test' in 'Advanced | Network Setup'. What message do you get?

The first problem can be fixed by setting the permissions on the Perl files correctly. Details of permissions can be found in teh Advanced Users Guide.

The second can be checked by disabling any firewalls/proxies and trying the upload again. To fix it, try entering the details of your firewall/proxy in the Proxy area of 'Advanced | Network Setup'.

Hi All, Thanks for your help. I'm still using inexpensive domains and everything is uploading fine now. I don't know what they changed except that they erased everything from my site to let me start again.

My test site is at www.datadurability.com/estore

I have also managed to import price lists from a spreadsheet - thanks to the actinic community.

so it was nothing to do the hard returns in the perl scripts?

You are right Jo. It was nothing to go with the returns. I have not received any explaination from the hosting provider about what the problem was.

I'm now looking at SSL and Shared SSL and trying to figure all that out. I'm off on holidays tomorrow morning so I guess that it will all have to wait until after that.

Hi, if only they - holidays (and weekends) were not a thing of the past for me. I'm supposed to be employed and my employer has not paid me for four months.....industrial tribunal here I come very soon..any way I'm glad that you have them and I hope that you enjoy yourself.
