Hi,

I need to send a package to the USA. Its not through my business but personal. I am getting a real headace with this one.

I tried to book through parcel force but they want business names as a mandatory field. This is odd? So I thought I would try Royal Mail but they dont deliver over 2kg.

My package is about 3.5 kilos and I am wondering how to send it? I have tried contacting both Royal Mail and Parcel Force but get the dreaded computer voice and a list of options that sends me in circles. I thought I would come here for a bit of advice.

Anyone know the best way to send a 3.5kg package to USA and what documentation I would need? Its one of my personal swords so UPS and some other courriers wont touch it.

I hope of sound advice:)

Hi Leigh - with regards to parcel force - just put in the persons name in the business name field - we do this all the time and its fine.

Do you have a carrier for business stuff to go abroad? If so just use that one and if you feel the need to charge yourself the cost of the postage.

Royal Mail will do a surface mail for over 2 kg quite cheap but can take 3-5 weeks

Not shure if they do a signed for service on this

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I managed to get to speak to someone human at ParcelForce eventually. It took a while being bumped around the automated system. They charge an extra £1 or so to book by telephone.

Turns out that in the business name section I just had to put 0 and everything else would have been fine. Although my measurements wouldn't work on the site too!

I think its quite a good money spinner for them. Making the site unclear and difficult to use. I had to use what I guess was a premium rate number and pay additional charges.

It reminds me of the need for good customer service. Our customers always need to be able to speak to a voice!
