Having looked through the archive on page width there still seems to be quite wide-ranging opinion on the best way to go.
My instinct is to be inclusive and design for 800 x 600, but I'm getting good advice that that's too small for a 3-column layout, which I want.

Could I poll on this:

800 x 600 fixed
1024 fixed
fluid with no max
fluid with a max of (say) 1280
fluid and no max.

BTW - Is it possible yet to easily and reliably fix a max?

I am tending towards Fluid with a min around 950px wide at the moment to cater for the majority

950px fixed or 95% centered for me.

I've always thought the community could do with an Actinic Gold thread on catalog widths, whether it be fixed (to whatever) or fluid (or fluid with restrictions).... maybe there is a thread lurking somewhere...
