Does anyone know what to do with a postal order if somebody offers payment in this way.

Do you just take to to the Post Office and exchange it for cash or do you need a post office account, are there any charges involved etc.

Sounds silly I know but I didn't think Postal Orders existed any longer!!

If its not crossed you can cash it at a PO (may need ID), if it is crossed you bank it like a cheque.

There are no charges - these are paid at the time of purchase.
If the PO is crossed it will normally need to be paid into an account (don't know what account though - bank or Post Office). Otherwise your ID will suffice to cash it.
