Is there a way to make a product or number of products available only when you've previously selected a given item?

For example: you can only order a pencil sharpener if you've ordered a pencil...

Any help would be great.

Not really.

You can associated one product to another product via a component (so you buy the two products together), but you cannot set up a rule in the way you describe.
