Basket and checkout strange behaviour

The site below is on the same server as three other similar sites, all running with no problems. This site exhibits a strange feature. If you add something to the basket for the first time the bounce page shows the item correctly, as does 'view basket' and checkout.
If you add anothert item the bounce page is OK but the view basket and checkout do not show the addition.
When returning to the catalog from the bounce page the cart items and value are correct, until you choose view basket or checkout and then they revert to the last basket data!!!
I have web site refreshed, cleaned out cookies, even stripped the site back to a bare server and reloaded the whole site. It still exhibits the same problem.

Can anyone shed any light or help!!!

Problem solved:-
The problem only occured when certain products were placed in the basket.
They appeared in the bounce page but not when view basket or checkout were used.
I tracked the products down to be duplicate entries that was using a product in a hidden page as its reference.
Moved the products out into the open catalog and problem has gone away.
