cannot find embedded class

I am trying to make a simple change to the section list font colour, I want to change it from black to white.
No matter what I do the span class - actxsmall - around NETQUOTEVAR:TOPLEVELSECTIONSTOP remains in place. This class is only visible from the web page source.
I am going crazy trying to find it, can anyone show me the way? It's probably something really simple and I'm going to feel daft!

In the root of the site1 folder there are 3 templates

Act_ParentSectionsLink.html
Act_ParentSectionsThis.html
Act_ParentSectionsSeparator.html

.. which tend to have a load of embedded CSS in there - worth checking out
