We are running version 7 and having moved our files onto a new computer we have had problems with Actinic. I have contacted support who explained there is now fix for the problems eg. no previews whilst adding products. Now we have the problem that many of our images are not showing on our site and alot of ammended items have reverted back to old prices...... is this also a known problem with this version? Or does anyone know a fix?

having moved our files onto a new computer
did you install Actinic on the new PC and import the sites using snapshot?
if not please give us more info as to what you did.

we have an it guy who transferred the files Ok - sounds like you had a simple data transfer from one hard drive to another. If this is the case then that is why it will not work.
You need to remove Actinic from the new machine and reinstal it. Once that is done and working then import a snapshot from the old machine or backup.

Think my problems are only just starting Not wrong! - If you dont have a snapshot then you will need to use the data base on the new machine and the live site to rebuild the site. You can use ftp to download the site from the server and extract the images etc but it sound like as Actinic says that there is no magic fix.
You may want to contact an Actinic specialist to help you as it may be quicker in the long run - there are also a few threads on the forum from people who have been in the same situation.

Could it be a problem with our website host? My boss thnks so but seeing as they know little about the web i doubt it is... i think it is all about how the files were transferred as we have had nothing but trouble since then!

if it doesn't work on your PC the question of whether it has anything to do with your webhost is jumping the gun.
It has to work on the PC first....
I'd wait for your IT guy

Well I ain't shy too ask for help myself!
For what its worth it would have been easy for her not to reply stating the payment issue wouldn't it? (Maybe the boss have preferred not to lol) Good to see she drew a line under the problem, for now at least anyway.

IT support guy says he simply reinstalled Actinic on the new PC and then transferred the Site1 folder from the old PC to the new. This appeared to have worked ok to him (at least the site looked ok when viewed from the PC). However any updates we make (e.g. to item price) do not now update when we make them.
I think we have now gone past the point where we can revisit the old PC, take a snapshot and transfer it to the new installation. We have made too many changes to the database since the transfer took place and we have not kept a record of changes (IT support guy is not familiar with Actinic and didnt realise it could do snapshot).
Is there any way we can manually alter what we have on the PC right now so it can properly update the website?

Check that you don't have copies of the web pages in your site1 folder. I seem to remember there being a problem with some V7 versions (all?) where an old page in the site1 folder would be uploaded instead of the new one.
Mike
PS: make sure you have a good backup of all files before you start deleting anything.

Can you tell me how we would be able to tell if something in the site1 folder is a copy?

I read this as meaning the transfer from old PC to new PC is fine.
Actinic on the new PC shows the new price in the product dialog box, but when uploading the site to the web the price is still the old one.
If this is true, could we have a URL showing a product with the wrong price, and info as to what the price should be

Hi thast exactly the problem...... a typical example would be on this page:
http://www.surridgesport.com/acatalog/New_2006_Cricket_Whites.html
The price of the first item should be £19.95/ Euro 29.93
On Tuesday the website let me upload a message on the main page explaining we have some problems, this is what i dont understand. It has reverted to some old things on some pages but not on others.

It might be a good idea to do a full web purge and refresh of the website (Help menu, Troubleshooting)

does this not wipe the whole site?

yes and then it reuploads it.
this way your old html pages should get removed and a new ones uploaded
